Counting calorie vs. counting quality of the calorie

Counting calorie vs. counting quality of the calorie

The food that we eat decides the number of calories we take. However, it's not the same as taking 100 calories from the cake as from green leafy vegetables. So it's not about counting the calories, it's about counting the quality of calories, as not all calories are equal.

The quality and quantity of calories from various food products determine whether it's a good calorie or bad.

What is a good calorie and what is a bad calorie?

A good calorie is one which provides complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and lean proteins from the meal. While a bad calorie is one which doesn't provide our body with any nutritional value. These come from processed foods, artificial ingredients, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Good calories can be found in avocados, nuts, olive oil, brown rice, coconut oil, and so forth. Vegetables and fruits have low calories but high in minerals, vitamins, and macronutrients. While, flour, white sugar, and other processed foods are high in calories but low in nutrients.

Why it matters how you source your calories?

Good calories are slow and steady to burn, making you feel satisfied and full for a long time. While bad calories burn faster because of which we need more fuel for the body and as a result, we overeat. It will result in further diseases and diseases related to obesity, and it becomes a vicious cycle, and your brain will crave for it more and more. So the fact is it matters as its source can influence the intake of the next calorie.

So, the bottom line is the quality of calories matter and so does the source. Keep an eye on the food you are having for a well-maintained weight and wellness for a long time.
